Today I met up with Jim Fyfe from DoC, who has been helping Alastair and I with our sea lion film. He and Liz Slooten were examining the placenta from a Gray's Beaked Whale that washed up on the shore. There was a male foetus inside, which was pretty amazing.

Fascinating stuff! Did anyone have any theories of why the whale died? What a sad statistic to lose a pregnant whale, since they are all struggling to survivve!
