Appetite For Power - At Any Cost

The death of Chile's Augusto Pinochet on Dec. 10, 2006 was more than the passing of another dictator. His violent regime spurred an international human rights movement. Activist and lawyer Reed Brody from Human Rights Watch, who has closely followed the legal case against Pinochet for a decade, provides the commentary for this essay.

Merry Christmas, Kat! I just caught up with your writings for the month of December. It is Christmas Day here at the beach, about 6:00 p.m. It was so warm here today, that I half expected to see a seal going by, after reading your entry about sea lions. Young Roger and I hit golf balls on the beach. Amanda and her new dog Miller and Britty and I walked to the convent and back. And we did this all in shirt sleeves - winter has not really arrived here yet! Suzanne told me she was looking for tickets to come visit you at Christmas, so I hope you are with your mom and dad right now. Is your project on sea lions like your project on the bears - your big, final project? Your trip to Fjordland had some breathtaking scenery. Take care, and happy holidays! Dorothy

Merry Christmas and happy new year Dorothy and Roger! So great to hear from you. I wish we were all hanging out at the beach together, then Flea could join Britty and Miller for a good run! My family will come in June instead, for the premiere of my film on sea lions. I think of you guys often, and wish you the best for 2007. Looking forward to visiting with you then. Take care, Kat x
